Fun Facts About Savings
- A savings account at the credit union helps keep your money safe. You can add to your savings and check your balance any time you want.
- Small deposits add up. Even change makes a difference so save every penny and see how fast it adds up to big bucks!
- We pay you to keep your money at the credit union! This payment is called interest and it's the key to how the money in your savings account grows. If you just keep your money at home or in your pocket, you won't earn interest and you risk losing it!
- There are many types of savings accounts. Ask your parents or your favorite credit union person about youth certificates of deposit. It takes more money to open a certificate but what a terrific goal to have!
- It's never too early to start saving for your retirement. That's right, before you even start working you could be saving up for the future. Being young is an advantage when it comes to saving!
- Animals save too! Some save food for the winter, some save twigs for building their homes and our new friend Kirby saves energy. Did you know that hopping is an energy-efficient way for them to move around? They have to cover large areas in search of food and water and they are not that great at walking with those large feet so they hop. And boy are they good at it! They can hop over 40 miles per hour!
